Instructions for VGATEST:
VGATEST is a program sent with DiscPassage to test video display
capabilities. It can also be used as a file viewer.
To view a file with VGATEST, give the command
vgatest [-d<drive>] [-v<card>] [-i<image>]
where the items in brackets override the default values as follows:
-d specify drive letter (e.g. -dh)
-v specify VGA card chipset (e.g. -vstdvga)
-vall list VGA chipset options
-vmem specify VGA card memory (e.g. -vmem=256k)
-i specify image to display (e.g. -i\publish.scf)
-? display usage message
Defaults for these values are:
<drive> Auto-sensed CD-ROM drive
<card> Auto-detected VGA card chipset and memory
<image> PUBLISH.SCF image in root directory of CD-ROM drive
Allowed values of <card> for -v<card> usage are:
tseng Tseng Labs ET3000 chipset
tseng4 Tseng Labs ET4000 chipset
paradise Paradise (Western Digital)
video7 Video 7
trident Trident TVGA
everex Everex

stdvga Standard VGA - 360 x 480 x 256 colors
mode13 Standard VGA - 320 x 200 x 256 colors
When finished viewing the file, press the <ESCAPE> key.
To interrupt the display of a file, press the <ESCAPE>, and press the
<ESCAPE> key again to exit the program.
Please note that specifying an image file with the -i option over-rides
the drive detection, and uses instead the path from the current working
directory.
ALLOWABLE IMAGE TYPES:
VGATEST can be used to view SCF images (the 640 x 480 x 256 color file
format used by RIX Softworks, Inc.). SCF images will default to mode 13X
(360 x 400 x 256 colors) on a Standard VGA display, but will display in
mode 101 (640 x 480 x 256 colors) on a Super VGA display. Super VGA
display is slightly faster.
EXAMPLES:
To view the file IMAGE1.SCF, give the command
vgatest -iimage.scf
To view the same file in standard VGA, give the command
vgatest -iimage.scf -vstdvga
To view the PUBLISH.SCF file in the root directory of drive D:, use the
command
vgatest -dd
or the command
vgatest -id:\publish.scf
